The romance of St Lucia

Each year people from all over the world come to St Lucia to get married. 

The process is simple and straightforward and there are many wedding planners on the island, especially located within the hotels 

Basic Legal Requirements

You will need to arrange a visit to a local solicitor so that they can make an application to the Attorney General who will issue the marriage licence.

You can get married on the same day for a fee of EC$540 or if your on the island for 2 days or more, the fee would be EC$335

Documentation Required

  • Passport
  • Immigration card
  • Birth certificate
  • Proof of home address
  • Occupation
  • If divorced, need proof of decree absolute
  • If widowed, need death certificate of deceased spouse
  • If name changed by deed, full proof required
  • If under the age of 18, evidence of parental consent is required in the form of an affidavit stamped by a Notary Royal

Documents must be produced by both people and only originals are accepted

 

Other Points

All legal offices on the island operate from Monday to Friday and are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

It can take 2 working days to process your wedding application.

Weddings are not conducted on Sundays and public holidays.

Wedding certificates from St Lucia are valid in all countries.

You can expect to pay the following fees;

  • Notarial fees and marriage licence - from EC$300-EC$500 (£65-£105 approx)
  • Registrar Fees - EC$120 £25 approx)
  • Marriage Certificate - EC$8 (£2 approx)
